Considered as one of the most prestigious professions, Engineers are respected more and highly paid than any other student from other backgrounds. It is for this reason they are willing to spend huge sum of money to get coaching and crack the engineering exams and prove themselves as far as possible.
Here are the lists of few top most important Engineering Exams which must be known by all the students who dream to become a successful engineer.
IIT-JEE:
Considered as one of the toughest exams in India, IIT-JEE is a gateway in to the prestigious institutions like Indian Institute of technology. One of the Alumni of IIT says, “The paper was really very tough before five years when compared to the recent year papers. It requires more attention and thinking on the spot, but it is more easier now”.
Total Number of seats: approximately 10,035
Exam pattern:
There will be no change in the percentile system criteria for the JEE advanced 2014 examination. The JAB( Joint Admission Board) meeting had decided to follow the same exam pattern for JEE 2014 as that of JEE 2013.
Tentative dates for the exam:
The date for JEE Main 2014 is tentatively on April 2014 whereas JEE Advanced to be conducted on May 2014.

AIEEE:
This is the next most popular entrance exam which consoles the students who have not won in the IIT-JEE Test. This exam provides opportunities to many other prestigious institutions, if not IIT’S. National Institute of Technology, Deemed universities, IIIT’s, Technical and government funded institutions are affiliated with this examination. Approximately, 26,816 seats for BE/B.TECH and 936 seats for B.ARCH/B.PLAN in the various institutions mentioned above.
Total number of seats: 26,816
Exam format or pattern:
Objective, questions from physics, chemistry. The duration is 3 hours. Maximum marks and number of questions vary every year. The paper will be conducted through both the ways (i.e) through offline or through online mode.

Tentative exam dates for AIEEE exams on April 2014.

BITSAT:
Bits Pilani is very popular among the Engineering aspirants in India. Most of the student consider it as a dream, joining in BITS Pilani. Thus, this institute fetches for the right candidate through this above examination which is held at its BITS pilani campuses at Hyderabad, Pune , Pilani and Goa. This exam is considered to be easy when compared to the IIT-JEE and AIEEE exams.
Exam format:
This is also an online test to be completed within three hours. This is multiple type questions and students have to answer the right one. It consist total of 150 questions and divided in to four sections as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English proficiency along with Logical reasoning.
Tentative Dates for the Exam:
Mid May to June First Week, 2014.

GATE:
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is the All India exam which is conducted for the admission in to the prestigious institutions like seven IIT’S and Indian Institute of Science. Other exams mentioned above are for undergraduate programs whereas GATE is for post graduate programs.
Exam format:
A candidate can apply one out of 21 papers like Biotechnology,Civil Engineering, chemistry, Aerospace engineering, etc. T his exam is conducted offline which consists of 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
Tentative dates for Exam:
This exam is to be conducted on the Saturdays and Sundays between 1 February 2014 and 2nd March.

VITEEE:
This is an entrance exam for those students who like to join in Vellore Institute of Technology. The students who score more are provided with IGNITE scholarship for the whole period of 4 years of study.
Exam Format:
This is similar type like others having objective type of questions in which the student should choose the right option. The application forms will be available from 2nd December 2013.
