Revealing Myths About Water Purifiers

Awareness about regular water consumption has made more and more homes and businesses around the world want to consider having their own water purifier to ensure that they consume pure, clean, and safe water and obtain the benefits of this liquid. However, there are many questions about whether these devices are really as effective as they claim to be at removing contaminants from water.

There are many dangers surrounding the consumption of contaminated water since, in recent years, the quality of the water has worsened. This has represented high health risks since it can cause serious diseases such as hepatitis, giardiasis, amoebiasis or typhoid fever. To do this, water purification companies have created innovative products to combat pollutants. One of them, Aqua Drinks, has developed cutting-edge strategies to protect humans against diseases and bacteria found in water.

A water purifier works according to the mechanical principle, but the operation is almost always the same, they have a physical and a chemical component to filter the water. First, there is a physical part where the water passes through a fine mesh that takes care of the larger contaminants. Then, with the chemical method, the water passes through an element where a chemical reaction occurs that helps to extract microscopic impurities from the water.

Despite the use of innovative technology and products, many questions have been raised among consumers about the effectiveness of water purifiers, mainly due to the variety of methods found on the market. For this reason, we want to let you know what are the most common myths about these devices and if they really work or not.

Myths about water purifiers

1. Water purifiers do not retain essential minerals:

Drinking water contains about 21 mineral elements such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and others that are essential for humans. Minerals are naturally occurring inorganic compounds such as gold, silver, and carbon, or a combination of two elements such as salt and chlorine.

Some common minerals essential for health are:

  • Calcium: for bones and teeth
  • Magnesium: for the nervous system and healthy bones
  • Iron: for the production of haemoglobin
  • Potassium: to maintain healthy muscles and nervous system
  • Zinc: for a healthy immune system
  • Sodium: to maintain the water balance around the cells

A balanced diet requires all the essential minerals and according to experts, they are best absorbed by the body when they come from water. The water contains some amounts of calcium, magnesium and salt. However, many people believe that water purifiers drain essential minerals that the body needs.

This claim is false, a water purifier does not remove essential minerals from water. However, when buying a device it is important to consider the purification techniques to choose the right technology that is responsible for preserving the minerals present in the water.

2. Purifiers are not necessary because it is enough to boil the water:

This is one of the most common myths, many people believe that investing in water purifiers is not necessary because boiling the water is enough to kill bacteria and viruses that are transmitted through water. However, this is completely false, and we will tell you why.

Boiling water may be the traditional method of water purification, especially in times of urgency, but it is not 100% effective as it has no effect on chlorine content, and cysts, nor does it remove turbidity or organic impurities. and inorganic that liquid can contain. Also, people are unaware that it must be boiled for a minimum of 20 minutes to effectively kill disease-causing organisms.

On the other hand, once the water is boiled, it is kept in a container to wait for it to cool down. This container leaves the water exposed to agents that can contaminate the water again. In addition, if it remains for a long time in the same container it becomes stagnant water that can grow bacteria and be harmful if used for human consumption.

3. The taste of the water from the purifier is due to flavourings:

It is true that water has no taste, but people can tell when one water tastes better than another. For example, tap water often has a bad taste for various reasons, whether natural or artificial, because bacteria can cloud the taste. Also, different contaminants and additives can cause a chemical taste.

Consumers have determined that the water coming out of a water purifier tastes better, but many believe it is due to artificial flavouring and this is false. Purifiers do not add any chemicals to the water we drink. It simply participates to filter the impurities that the raw water may have.

Purifier water tastes better due to the following factors:

  • Sediment particles are filtered out.
  • Reduces the amount of chlorine and organic chemicals.
  • Allows essential minerals to flow.
  • Reduces lead and heavy metals
  • Eliminates parasitic cysts

Purifier water definitely tastes much better, that’s true. But it is not because of any artificial flavouring, on the contrary, it is because it really removes the particles that give it a bad taste and makes it tasteless, as it should be.

4. Water purifiers are too expensive:

A hurdle for many people before getting a water dispenser is the cost. The truth is that it requires an initial investment, but it is not an impossible price, there are many options on the market so that you can find the one that best suits your budget. Also, it is essential to keep in mind that it will save you a lot of money in the future.

Water dispensers have become highly convenient and in many cases, an essential appliance for the workplace or home. For this reason, the initial expense is worth it to provide people with a source of hydration. On the other hand, it reduces the amount of bottled water they consume and in addition to being a good investment, it contributes to the environment by reducing the amount of plastic.

5. Purifying water helps prevent diseases:

Not all myths are negative, there are many people who claim that drinking water from a water purifier is beneficial for health and helps prevent diseases. This is completely true. Purified water goes through a treatment that helps eliminate any polluting agent that can cause serious conditions for people.

The reality is that the filtered water from the purifier is very good for health since the benefits are multiplied by ten. This water contributes to better hydrating the skin, better absorbs nutrients, helps detoxify the body, improves digestion and reduces the risk of cancer, since toxins such as chlorine and lead are removed by filtration.

Water purifiers do work

In conclusion, water purifiers are really effective and are a necessary element to have clean, pure, and safe water at hand for human consumption without worrying about health risks. It is a smart investment that also offers the following advantages:

  • Eliminates 99.9% of bacteria, and heavy metals. Definitely, it completely eliminates substances that are harmful to the body.
  • It retains the essential minerals in the water that contribute to the body and keeps the pH of the water balanced.
  • Water from a purifier tastes better, is cleaner, and you’ll have unlimited water, without the cost of bottled water.
  • The machine is friendly to the environment since it does not produce waste water and considerably reduces the use of plastic bottles.
  • Save money by buying bottled water in the long run.
