Qualifying Exam for this:
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) conducts examinations to select candidates for different managerial positions in the Airports of India. The candidate must be a graduate in order to attend this examination. Also, the candidate must have done his bachelor degree in general business or business administration. In addition, if he must have better opportunities in this field he might be expected to had completed Master’s in Engineering, Business administration or aviation management. These all must be from a recognized University.

Eligibility:
The candidates must have scored 60% or above in the Engineering, business administration or aviation management. Otherwise, he must have scored 60% or above in the postgraduate with mathematics, physics or computer science as the major. Other than this, the candidate must have his own personal talents and traits, excellent communication, ability to work at flexible timings, attend seminars, workshops outside the town, etc. Those who have a prior job experience of 2 years or more have special considerations.
The candidate has to get through the written exam phase, physical criteria, test of driving and PET( Physical Endurance Test ) and personal Interview process.
In order to fill over 500 vacancies in 33 grades in different cadres of AAI conducts this examination for the positions such as Junior Executive, Deputy General Manager, among others in PSU’s which are responsible for the creation and management of the civil aviation both in the ground and airspace of the country. Thus, this exam was conducted on August and November in 2012.
Working conditions:
The working conditions may greatly vary depending upon the size of the Airport. Sometimes, the Airport manager may stay at his own office at the terminal building of the Airport and order his assistants to plan and maintain the airport related tasks. He may have regular official timings unless or until any emergency.
But, however, Airports in Large metropolitan cities, the Assistant manager must have at least 3 to 7 years of prior work experience at airport served by number of Airlines. They must have excellent oral, written and problem solving abilities and must have up to date information about the state/federal/local aviation regulations, laws and guidelines.
For the year of 2013, Airport Authority of India announced openings for the position of junior assistant manager with a total vacancy of about 245 seats. It had mentioned that the age limitation is 30 and the pay scale is between 12,500 to 28,500.
How to prepare for the interview?
It will be worthwhile if you are having managerial experience before you step into this field. It is far better if you have done any internship with the airports nearby. If you have not got that opportunity, then you can undertake the internship with any large industry.
Besides these managerial post, AAI exam provides openings for other positions like Junior Assistant ( Fire Services), Junior Assistant MT driver, etc. Among that, Assistant of fire services requires the following eligibility.
Minimum Physical Measurement for the Candidate for Fire services:
Height should not be less than 167 centimeters
Weight should not be less than 55 kgs
Vision should be 6/6. Candidate should not put spectacles.
Chest must be 81 centimeters
The above requirements must be met in order to get selected for the respective post.
Thus, AAI has a huge responsibility to manage 126 Airports in which 11 are international airports. It deals with airport planning, airport traffic control, airport construction, etc.
