Rumination is the mental process of repetitively focusing on the symptoms of your distress and the possible causes and consequences. During anxious rumination, you dwell on the threat and on how you hope to avert the disaster, solve the problem, or correct the mistakes you fear you’ve made. As you learn to ruminate less, you’ll be better able to rise above this rigid pattern of thinking to see things as they truly are.
