Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Gently move your attention to your body. Observe any pleasant sensations or feelings. If you notice pain or tension, observe that too, but don’t linger there. Perhaps you notice other sensations: heat, cold, or pressure on a part of your body. Notice the feeling of the floor beneath your feet and your weight in the chair if you’re sitting. Notice your breath: the gentle rise and fall of your abdomen, or the movement of air in and out of your nostrils.
