You might have noticed that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can’t reason your way out of the anxiety box, nor can you ignore what your anxious mind tells you. As you become more and more anxious, you and your thoughts become one: you no longer have anxious thoughts; you are your anxious thoughts. In other words, you have “fused” tightly with your anxious thoughts, and now these thoughts seem far more important and more real than perhaps they really are.
